Biography
Claus Wehlisch is a German film editor. Born in Berlin in 1972, he trained as a sound engineer at the SAE Institute in London from 1993 to 1995 before focusing on film editing from the late 1990s.
He worked as an assistant or co-editor on international productions including Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), The Three Musketeers (2011) and Cloud Atlas (2012). As lead editor he has contributed to more than a dozen feature films and television series, notably Babylon Berlin (2017–2022, 40 episodes), Furia (2021) and Chantal in Fairyland (2024).
Wehlisch received the Deutscher Kamerapreis in 2016 for Polizeiruf 110: Und vergib uns unsere Schuld and a Grimme Prize in 2018 for Babylon Berlin. Since 2016 he has served on the board of the Bundesverband Filmschnitt Editor e.V. and is a member of the Deutsche Filmakademie.
