Biography

Colin Vaines is a British film and television producer and creative consultant. He began his career in 1977 as a journalist with the trade paper Screen International, which he later edited. In 1984 he left journalism to run the UK's National Film Development Fund and consult for British Screen Finance, later holding development roles at Columbia Pictures and David Puttnam's Enigma Productions.

Vaines made his producing debut in 1992 with the Emmy-winning television film A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia. He has held senior positions at Miramax Films, The Weinstein Company and GK Films, serving as co-executive producer on Gangs of New York (2002) and executive producer on The Young Victoria (2009), The Rum Diary (2011) and London Boulevard (2010). As a freelance producer he has credits including Coriolanus (2011), My Week with Marilyn (2011), W.E. (2011), Miss Potter (2006) and Breaking and Entering (2006).

Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool (2017), which he produced with Barbara Broccoli, was nominated for three BAFTA awards. Later credits include executive producer on The Unforgivable (2021) and Red Dog: True Blue (2016).
