Biography
Constance Shulman is an American actress. Born on 4 April 1958 in Johnson City, Tennessee, she graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in speech and theatre. She later studied acting at the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City.
Shulman originated the role of Annelle in the first Off-Broadway production of Steel Magnolias in 1987. Her screen debut came in Fletch Lives (1989). She voiced Patti Mayonnaise in the animated series Doug (1991–1999) and appeared in films including Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). After a period away from acting to raise her children, she returned with a recurring role as Yoga Jones in Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019).
Shulman played Elizabeth in the series The Curse (2023–2024). She has received Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series as part of the Orange Is the New Black cast. She is married to actor Reed Birney; their daughter Gus Birney is also an actress.
