Biography
Craig Pearce is an Australian screenwriter and actor. He was educated at Narrabeen Sports High School alongside Baz Luhrmann and is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
Pearce formed a long-term creative partnership with Luhrmann. Together they co-wrote the play Strictly Ballroom and its 1992 film adaptation, as well as the screenplays for Romeo + Juliet (1996), Moulin Rouge! (2001), The Great Gatsby (2013) and Elvis (2022). He also wrote the screenplay for Charlie St. Cloud (2010) and created the television series Will (2017).
In 2016 Pearce received the Australian Writers' Guild Lifetime Achievement Award.
