Biography
Daniel Brocklehurst, also credited as Danny Brocklehurst, is an English screenwriter, playwright and former journalist. Born in June 1971 in Hyde, England, he began his career in the 1990s as a freelance journalist for publications including The Guardian, Manchester Evening News and The Big Issue before becoming a full-time screenwriter.
He is known for creating and writing series including Shameless (2004–2006), for which he won a BAFTA, Brassic (2019–), The Stranger (2020), Fool Me Once (2024) and Ten Pound Poms (2023–2025). He has frequently collaborated with novelist Harlan Coben on adaptations and served as writer and executive producer on the 2026 Netflix series Run Away. His work has earned BAFTA, Royal Television Society and other awards. He is related to Paralympic athlete Sarah Storey.
