Biography
Dario Argento is an Italian film director, screenwriter and producer born on 7 September 1940 in Rome. He began his career in the 1960s as a film critic and columnist before working as a screenwriter on several films, including co-writing the story for Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West (1968).
Argento made his directorial debut with The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970) and went on to direct numerous giallo and horror films, among them Deep Red (1975), Suspiria (1977), Inferno (1980) and Tenebre (1982). He also contributed to the European cut of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978), for which he worked with Goblin on the score.
