Biography
Dave Thomas is a Canadian actor, comedian and television writer. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, he studied English literature at McMaster University and began his career in advertising before joining the Second City troupe in Toronto.
He is best known as one half of the comedy duo Bob and Doug McKenzie with Rick Moranis on the SCTV sketch series, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for writing. Thomas co-wrote and co-directed the 1983 feature film Strange Brew. His other credits include voice roles in Brother Bear (2003) and The Simpsons, appearances in Rat Race (2001) and Arrested Development (2003–2006), and the role of Pastor Timmons in Santa's Slay (2005). He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2020.
