Biography
Derek Mears is an American actor and stuntman. Born on 29 April 1972 in Bakersfield, California, he performed improv comedy locally before moving into film and television work in the mid-1990s.
He is known for his lead role as Jason Voorhees in the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th. Other film credits include the Classic Predator in Predators (2010), a Master-at-Arms in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Edward in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013), Romo in Alita: Battle Angel (2019), and the title character in the 2019 television series Swamp Thing.
