Biography
Diana Gabaldon is an American novelist and television writer. She was born on 11 January 1952 in Williams, Arizona. She holds degrees in zoology from Northern Arizona University, marine biology from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and a PhD in quantitative behavioral ecology from Northern Arizona University. Before turning to fiction, she worked as a university professor and wrote freelance comic-book scripts for Disney.
Gabaldon is best known for the Outlander series of novels, the first of which was published in 1991. The books were adapted into the Starz television series Outlander (2014– ), on which she has also worked as a writer and producer. She is credited as a writer on the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood (2025), which is based on characters from her books.
