Biography
Don Henderson was an English actor of stage, television and film. Born in Leytonstone, London, he worked as a dental technician in the army and as a detective sergeant with the Essex constabulary before turning to acting in his thirties.
He trained with the Royal Shakespeare Company and became known for tough-guy and authority roles. Henderson played detective George Bulman across three Granada series from 1976 to 1987: The XYY Man, Strangers and Bulman. Other credits include General Tagge in Star Wars (1977), Gavrok in Doctor Who (1987), and the Rogue Simulant in the Red Dwarf episode "Beyond a Joke" (1997). He also appeared in Brazil (1985), The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) and Cracker (1993).
Henderson was married to actress Shirley Stelfox from 1979 until his death from throat cancer on 22 June 1997.
