Biography

Donn Cambern was an American film editor whose credits include more than three dozen feature films. Born in Los Angeles, he graduated from UCLA with a degree in music and began his career as a music editor on television series including The Andy Griffith Show before moving into picture editing.

His early film work included Easy Rider (1969) and The Last Picture Show (1971). Cambern received an Academy Award nomination for his editing of Romancing the Stone (1984, shared with Frank Morriss). Other credits include Ghostbusters II (1989), The Bodyguard (1992), Twins (1988) and Excalibur (1981). He was awarded the American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award in 2004 and served as president of the Motion Picture Editors Guild from 1992 to 2001. He died in Burbank, California, in 2023.
