Biography
Doon Mackichan is a British actress, comedian and writer. Born Sarah Doon Mackichan on 7 August 1962 in London, she studied drama at the University of Manchester.
She co-created, wrote and performed in the sketch series Smack the Pony (1999–2003, 2017). Mackichan has frequently collaborated with Armando Iannucci, Steve Coogan and Chris Morris, appearing in The Day Today (1994), Brass Eye (1997, 2001) and Alan Partridge programmes. She played Jane Plough in Toast of London (2013–2015), Flavia in Plebs (2013–2018) and Cathy in Two Doors Down (2016–2025).
Mackichan was nominated for a BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance for Plebs in 2014 and won the BAFTA for Best Actress Television for Two Doors Down in 2024. On stage, she appeared in Bitter Wheat (2019) opposite John Malkovich.
