Biography
E. Max Frye is an American screenwriter, film director and television producer. Born in 1956 in Oregon and raised in Eugene, he attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland for one year before moving to Europe, where he lived in Paris and worked as a model in Austria. He later studied at New York University Film School.
Frye wrote the screenplay for Something Wild (1986). He wrote and directed the comedy Amos & Andrew (1993). Other credits include screenplays for Palmetto (1998) and Where the Money Is (2000), and he was one of the writers on the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers (2001), contributing to the episode 'Carentan'. He co-wrote Foxcatcher (2014) and wrote teleplays for The Alienist (2018).
Frye received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Foxcatcher.
