Emmett J. Scanlan is an Irish actor born on 31 January 1979 in Clontarf, Dublin. He began his career in the mid-2000s and is known for playing villainous or roguish characters.
Scanlan gained prominence for his role as Brendan Brady in the soap opera Hollyoaks (2010–2013), earning multiple soap award nominations and wins. He has appeared in The Fall (2013–2014) as Glenn Martin, Peaky Blinders (2013–2022) as Billy Grade, Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), In the Flesh (2014), Fool Me Once (2024) as Shane Tessier, Kin (2021–2023) as Jimmy Kinsella, and MobLand (2025). He is married to actress Claire Cooper, whom he met while working on Hollyoaks.
