Biography
Emmy Rossum is an American actress, director and singer. Born on 12 September 1986 in New York City, she began performing as a child in the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus.
She appeared in early film roles including Mystic River (2003) and The Day After Tomorrow (2004). Rossum received acclaim for her leading performance as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera (2004). She is best known for portraying Fiona Gallagher in the television series Shameless (2011–2019).
Rossum has also directed and produced, including the 2022 series Angelyne. In 2026 she stars as Alice Black and serves as an executive producer on the Hulu series Furious. She is married to filmmaker Sam Esmail.
