Biography
Ernie Adams (1885–1947) was an American character actor who appeared primarily in small, often uncredited parts in more than 400 films from the silent era through the 1940s.
Born Ernest Stephen Dumarais in San Francisco, California, he began his career in vaudeville and musical comedy on Broadway, where he appeared in Toot-Toot! (1918). With his wife Berdonna Gilbert he formed the vaudeville team Gilbert and Adams. He was frequently cast as shady or disreputable types.
Among his credits are roles in It Happened One Night (1934), Freaks (1932), Little Caesar (1931), It's a Wonderful Life (1946) and The Pride of the Yankees (1942).
