Biography
Fabia Drake (born Ethel McGlinchy) was an English actress whose career spanned nearly seven decades. Born on 20 January 1904 in Herne Bay, Kent, she trained at the Academy of Dramatic Art and made her professional stage debut as a child. She changed her surname by deed poll and appeared in her first film, Masks and Faces, in 1917.
Drake was known for numerous stage, film and television roles, including Miss Catharine Alan in A Room with a View (1985), Madame de Rosemonde in Valmont (1989), the Welfare Worker in The Prisoner (1967) and Mrs Jarman in Inspector Morse (1988). She received the OBE in 1987 for services to drama. She died in London on 28 February 1990.
