Biography
Francine Jamison-Tanchuck is an American costume designer. She began her career in the early 1970s as an apprentice in studio costume departments and worked as costume supervisor on the 1985 film The Color Purple. Her first credit as lead costume designer was on the 1989 Civil War drama Glory.
She has designed costumes for films including Coming to America (1988), Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993), The Negotiator (1998), Big Momma's House (2000), Just Mercy (2019), One Night in Miami... (2020), Emancipation (2022), They Cloned Tyrone (2023) and The Color Purple (2023). Television work includes the pilot of The Wire (2002). She received a Career Achievement Award from the Costume Designers Guild in 2024 and designed the costumes for The Piano Lesson (2024).
