Biography

Gary Gilbert is an American film producer. He financed and produced the 2004 feature Garden State, written and directed by Zach Braff, and also appeared in a small acting role in the film. He founded Gilbert Films, a production and financing company based in Los Angeles.

Gilbert began his career in the mortgage industry as a co-founder of Rock Financial, which later became part of Quicken Loans and Rocket Mortgage. He holds a BBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and is a co-owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA team alongside his brother Dan Gilbert. His other producing credits include The Kids Are All Right (2010) and La La Land (2016).

In 2005, Gilbert and Braff received an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature for Garden State. Gilbert was among the producers of La La Land, which received 14 Academy Award nominations.
