Biography
Gideon Ponte is a production designer whose credits include Buffalo '66 (1998), American Psycho (2000), Nacho Libre (2006) and The Notorious Bettie Page (2005). He has also worked on Hamlet (2000), Series 7: The Contenders (2001), Abandon (2002) and Filth and Wisdom (2008).
Ponte trained at art school in London during the 1980s before moving to New York in 1987. He began in the art department as a researcher on Mary Harron’s I Shot Andy Warhol, recreating artwork under designer Therese DePrez, which led to his first production design roles. He has designed music videos, including Lauryn Hill’s Doo Wop (That Thing), for which he won an MTV award for Best Art Direction in 1999 and received a Grammy nomination in 1998. Through his company PONTE & Sons he has created sets for photographers and fashion campaigns.
