Biography
Giles Nuttgens is a British cinematographer. He began his career with the BBC's natural history documentary unit in 1984, working as a camera assistant before becoming one of the youngest film cameramen at the BBC by the age of 25.
Nuttgens is known for his work on Deepa Mehta's Elements trilogy, comprising Fire (1996), Earth (1998) and Water (2005), as well as Midnight's Children (2012). He received the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Cinematography for Water. He has collaborated repeatedly with director David Mackenzie on films including Young Adam, Asylum, Hallam Foe (2007) and Hell or High Water (2016), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography. Other credits include The Deep End (2001), for which he won the Sundance Film Festival Cinematography Award, Bee Season (2005), Colette (2018) and Enola Holmes (2020).
