Biography
Giorgio Moroder is an Italian composer and music producer. Born on 26 April 1940 in Urtijëi, South Tyrol, he began his career touring Europe as a guitarist before moving to Berlin and later Munich, where he worked with lyricist Pete Bellotte.
He is known for his film scores and soundtrack contributions, including Midnight Express (1978), American Gigolo (1980), Cat People (1982), Scarface (1983), Flashdance (1983), The NeverEnding Story (1984) and Top Gun (1986). He has received three Academy Awards and four Golden Globes for his work in film music.
Moroder is also recognised for his role in developing Eurodisco and electronic dance music through productions for Donna Summer in the 1970s.
