Biography
Graeme Revell is a New Zealand musician and composer. Born in Auckland, he attended Auckland Grammar School and graduated from the University of Auckland with degrees in economics and political science. He is classically trained as a pianist and French horn player. In the late 1970s he co-founded the industrial band SPK while working as an orderly in an Australian psychiatric hospital, later working as a regional planner in Australia and Indonesia.
Since the 1990s Revell has worked primarily as a film score composer. His credits include Dead Calm (1989), The Crow (1994), From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Daredevil (2003) and Sin City (2005). He has frequently collaborated with director David Twohy on films including Pitch Black (2000) and the Riddick franchise.
Revell has received eight BMI Film Music Awards, including the Richard Kirk Career Achievement Award, and an AACTA Award for Best Original Music Score.
