Biography

Robert Anthony Rodriguez is an American filmmaker, director, producer, writer, composer and visual effects supervisor. He was born on 20 June 1968 in San Antonio, Texas.

Rodriguez directed El Mariachi (1992), which he also produced, wrote, shot and edited on a low budget. The film led to the Mexico Trilogy with Desperado (1995) and Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003). He created the Spy Kids franchise, beginning with the 2001 film, and directed From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Sin City (2005) and Alita: Battle Angel (2019).

Rodriguez has frequently collaborated with Quentin Tarantino. He produced Death Proof (2007) and composed music for Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004). He is also known for Planet Terror (2007), Machete (2010) and directing episodes of The Mandalorian (2019) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021).
