Biography
Gunnar Fischer (18 November 1910 – 11 June 2011) was a Swedish cinematographer. He trained at Svensk Filmindustri under Julius Jaenzon and began working as a director of photography in the 1940s.
He collaborated with Ingmar Bergman on twelve films between 1948 and 1960, including Summer Interlude (1951), Summer with Monika (1953), Smiles of a Summer Night (1955), The Seventh Seal (1957), Wild Strawberries (1957) and The Magician (1958). Fischer also directed short films, wrote screenplays in the 1930s and 1940s, and published books for children. He was married to Gull Söderblom; their sons Jens and Peter Fischer are both cinematographers.
