Biography

Harry Harvey (also credited as Harry Harvey Sr.) was an American actor of stage, film and television. Born on 10 January 1901 in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), he began his career in minstrel shows and vaudeville before appearing on the Broadway stage. He moved to Hollywood in 1934 and worked for nearly fifty years, mostly in small character roles.

Harvey appeared in more than three hundred films and television episodes. His film credits include The Pride of the Yankees (1942) as Joe McCarthy, Ace in the Hole (1951), High Noon (1952) and numerous westerns. On television he was a regular as Sheriff Blodgett on The Roy Rogers Show (1951–1957) and guest-starred in series such as Bonanza, Columbo and Adam-12. He died on 27 November 1985 in Sylmar, California. He was the father of actor Harry Harvey Jr.
