Biography
Harry Keramidas is an American film and television editor. Born in August 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, he studied at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, graduating with a degree in industrial psychology. He later attended UCLA Graduate Film School after service in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic.
Keramidas began his career editing documentaries and ethnographic films before joining the Motion Picture Editors Guild in 1977. He worked as a dialogue editor on Martin Scorsese’s New York, New York (1977) and moved into features and television. He is best known for co-editing the Back to the Future trilogy (1985, 1989, 1990) with Arthur Schmidt. Other credits include Children of the Corn (1984), About Last Night... (1986), Judge Dredd (1995) and additional editing on Contact (1997).
He has received a BAFTA nomination for editing and has chaired the Ashfield FilmFest in Massachusetts.
