Biography
Henrik Ruben Genz is a Danish film and television director and screenwriter. Born in Gram in 1959, he first studied graphic design and printmaking at Designskolen Kolding before training at the National Film School of Denmark, graduating in 1995 with the short film Cross Roads.
After directing short films and documentaries for Danish broadcaster DR, Genz contributed episodes to series including Nikolaj & Julie (2002–2003), Better Times (2004–2007), The Killing (2007) and Borgen (2013). His feature films include Someone Like Hodder (2003), Chinaman (2005), Terribly Happy (2008), which won the Grand Prix at Karlovy Vary and multiple Robert Awards, Good People (2014), Word of God (2017) and Erna at War (2020). His 1999 short Theis and Nico received a Crystal Bear at Berlin and an Academy Award nomination; he was awarded the Carl Theodor Dreyer Award in 2009.
