Biography
Herbert Windt (1894–1965) was a German composer. He studied at the Sternsches Konservatorium in Berlin and later with Franz Schreker at the Berlin Academy of Music. After serving in the First World War he composed the opera Andromache, which premiered in 1932.
Windt began writing film scores in 1933 with Morgenrot. He is noted for his work with Leni Riefenstahl on Triumph of the Will (1935) and the two-part Olympia (1938). He also scored films directed by Wolfgang Liebeneiner, Georg Wilhelm Pabst and others during the 1930s and 1940s.
