Biography

Hilary Lavender Mason (4 September 1917 – 5 September 2006) was an English character actress. She was born in Birmingham and trained at the London School of Dramatic Art before performing with repertory theatres throughout Britain. Her career spanned nearly sixty years, from 1947 until 2006.

Mason is known for her role as the blind psychic Heather in the film Don't Look Now (1973). She appeared as the Old Woman Next Door in the series The Young Ones (1982) and as Gladys in the children's series Maid Marian and her Merry Men. Other television credits include episodes of Z-Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, Minder, Ripping Yarns, One Foot in the Grave and Lovejoy.
