Biography
Hiroshi Miyagawa (also credited as Miyagawa Hiroshi or Yasushi Miyagawa) was a Japanese composer, arranger and pianist. Born on 18 March 1931 in Rumoi, Hokkaido, he died on 21 March 2006 in Tokyo.
He began arranging and composing for radio and television in 1961 and went on to score more than twenty motion pictures. Miyagawa is credited with the song 'Call Happiness' for the 1964 film Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster and contributed to Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964). He is best known for his work on the Space Battleship Yamato anime series and films from the 1970s onwards, including the 2010 live-action film and the 2013 series Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
His son, Akira Miyagawa, is also a composer and has continued work on the Yamato franchise.
