Biography
Howard Browne was an American writer and editor. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he worked as managing editor of the pulp magazines Amazing Stories and Fantastic Adventures from the 1940s, later becoming editor-in-chief in 1950. He left publishing in 1956 to move to Hollywood.
Browne wrote numerous scripts for television series including Maverick (1957), The Fugitive (1963), Mission: Impossible (1966), Mannix (1967) and Cheyenne. His film screenplays include The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967) and Capone (1975). He also wrote mystery novels, several under the pseudonym John Evans.
Browne died in California in 1999.
