Biography
Howard Deutch is an American film and television director. Born in New York City on 14 September 1950, he began his career in the advertising department of United Artists Records and later directed music videos before making his feature debut with Pretty in Pink (1986).
Deutch directed two screenplays by John Hughes: Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful (1987). His other feature credits include The Great Outdoors (1988), The Replacements (2000), The Whole Ten Yards (2004) and My Best Friend's Girl (2008). Since the early 2010s he has worked primarily in television, directing episodes of series including True Blood, American Horror Story, The Strain, Jane the Virgin and Young Sheldon.
