Biography
Hubertus Bengsch is a German actor born on 10 July 1952 in Berlin. He trained at the Max Reinhardt School of Acting in Berlin and appeared in stage productions in Hannover, Bochum, Berlin and Salzburg. He also worked in numerous radio and television productions.
Bengsch is known for playing the First Watch Officer in Wolfgang Petersen’s Das Boot (1981) and its 1985 television version. He appeared in the series Der Landarzt (1989–1992). Since the early 1990s he has been a prominent voice actor, providing the German dubbing voice for Richard Gere from Pretty Woman (1989) onwards. In 2017 he received the Synchronsprecherpreis der Stadt Lippstadt for his voice work.
