Biography
Jackson Gillis was an American television and radio scriptwriter whose career spanned more than four decades. Born in Kalama, Washington, he graduated from Stanford University and served as an intelligence officer in the US Army during the Second World War before writing for radio dramas. He began working in television in 1952 with an episode of Racket Squad and went on to contribute scripts to numerous series.
Gillis wrote extensively for The Adventures of Superman (1953–1957), Perry Mason (from 1959, also serving as associate producer), Lassie and serials for The Mickey Mouse Club, including The Adventures of Spin and Marty. His later credits include episodes of The Fugitive (1963), Mission: Impossible (1966), Columbo (1971–1992), Lost in Space, The Wild Wild West, Knight Rider and Murder, She Wrote. He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for an episode of Columbo and also wrote two detective novels. He retired in 1996.
