Biography
Jacques Haitkin was an American cinematographer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 29 August 1950 and died in San Francisco on 21 March 2023.
He studied at the film school of New York University and the American Film Institute. Haitkin was best known as the director of photography on Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and its sequel A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985). He also worked with Craven on Shocker (1989) and with Jack Sholder on The Hidden (1987).
Haitkin served as cinematographer on other horror and genre films including Galaxy of Terror (1981), The House Where Evil Dwells (1982), Cherry 2000 (1988) and Wishmaster (1997). He later worked as a camera operator or second-unit director of photography on several action films such as The Expendables (2010), Furious 7 (2015), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Black Panther (2018).
