Biography
Jamie Childs is a British television and film director. He began his career directing commercials after winning a competition to create a promotional video for Patricia Cornwell’s novel Book of the Dead, which aired on Channel 5. His early drama work included short films and second unit directing on series such as Poldark.
Childs’s first major television directing credits came on Vera for ITV in 2016 and 2017. He subsequently directed four episodes of Doctor Who in 2018, including the premiere of Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor in The Woman Who Fell to Earth. He has also directed episodes of His Dark Materials, The Sandman (for which he served as executive producer on multiple seasons) and Willow.
Childs is attached to direct episodes of the forthcoming series Below (2026), on which he is also an executive producer. His feature directing credits include Jackdaw (2023).
