Biography
Edward Bazalgette, also credited as Ed Bazalgette, is a British television director. He began his career as a film editor working on commercials before directing documentaries, including episodes of Great Britons and Seven Wonders of the Industrial World. He later moved into drama, directing episodes of series including EastEnders, Holby City and Vera (2011).
Bazalgette has directed multiple episodes of Doctor Who (2005), including stories in series 9 and 10 and the 2016 Christmas special. His other credits include the opening episodes of Endeavour (2013), lead directing on Poldark, episodes of The Last Kingdom (for which he also served as co-executive producer) and The Witcher (2019), and work on Class (2016) and Fate: The Winx Saga (2021). He is a BAFTA nominee and was previously lead guitarist in the band The Vapors, whose 1980 single "Turning Japanese" was a hit.
