Biography
Jayne Atkinson is a British-American actress. Born on 18 February 1959 in Bournemouth, Dorset, England, she moved to the United States with her family as a child. She studied at Northwestern University and received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama.
Atkinson is known for her stage work, receiving Tony Award nominations for her performances in The Rainmaker (1999 revival) and Enchanted April (2003). On television she has appeared as Willa Ambrose in The X-Files (1995), Karen Hayes in 24 (2006–2007), Erin Strauss in Criminal Minds (2007–2020) and Catherine Durant in House of Cards (2013–2018). Her film credits include Free Willy (1993) and The Village (2004). She is married to actor Michel Gill.
