Biography
Jean Speegle Howard was an American actress. She appeared in films including Apollo 13 (1995) as Blanch Lovell, Matilda (1996) as Miss Phelps, Cocoon (1985) and Scrooged (1988) as Mrs Claus. She also had guest roles in numerous television series such as Married... with Children, The Wonder Years, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Roseanne.
Born Jean Frances Speegle in Duncan, Oklahoma, she studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She was married to actor Rance Howard and was the mother of actors and filmmakers Ron Howard and Clint Howard. Howard died in Burbank, California, in 2000.
