Biography
Jeff Povey is a Scottish screenwriter and author. He began writing for television in the early 1990s, following a two-man play, with credits including Stay Lucky.
He has written hundreds of episodes for British continuing dramas, including 240 for EastEnders (1992–2024), as well as Casualty, Holby City, Silent Witness and Midsomer Murders. Povey co-created the series By Any Means and Hooten & the Lady, and has also contributed to The Musketeers, Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators and The Dumping Ground. In 2002 he wrote and directed the short film Blowing It.
Outside television, Povey has published novels including The Serial Killers Club (2006) and SHIFT (2014).
