Biography
Jessica Hobbs is a New Zealand television director. She grew up in Christchurch and began her career with eight years as an assistant director, including on Jane Campion's An Angel at My Table (1990). Her first directing credit was the teleplay Overnight (1995).
After moving to Australia she directed episodes of series including Heartbreak High (1994), McLeod's Daughters (2001), Rake (2010) and The Slap (2011). Relocating to the United Kingdom, her credits include Broadchurch (2013), River (2015), Apple Tree Yard (2017), The Split (2018) and multiple episodes of The Crown (2016–). She won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the episode "War" of The Crown.
