Biography
Joan Bridge was a British costume designer and Technicolor consultant. She began her career in the late 1930s and worked in colour consultancy on films including Ben-Hur (1959) before moving into costume design.
Bridge collaborated extensively with Elizabeth Haffenden from the 1960s onwards on more than twenty productions. Their credits include A Man for All Seasons (1966), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Fiddler on the Roof (1971) and The Day of the Jackal (1973). She received an Academy Award for Best Costume Design (Colour) for A Man for All Seasons.
Later credits include Conduct Unbecoming (1975), Hanover Street (1979) and the television film The Curse of King Tut's Tomb (1980). Bridge retired around 1980 and died in 2009.
