Biography
Joan Shawlee (née Fulton) was an American actress. She appeared in films and on television, sometimes credited as Joan Fulton or Joyce Ring. She was born on 5 March 1926 in Forest Hills, New York, and died on 22 March 1987 in Hollywood, California.
Shawlee began her career as a model and Broadway dancer, appearing under the name Joyce Ring in the musicals By Jupiter (1942) and A Connecticut Yankee (1943). She later took small parts in films, including several with Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder. She is known for playing Sweet Sue in Some Like It Hot (1959), Sylvia in The Apartment (1960) and Amazon Annie in Irma la Douce (1963). On television she had a recurring role as Pickles Sorrell in The Dick Van Dyke Show.
