Biography
Joe Cole is an English actor, born Joseph Michael Cole on 28 November 1988 in Kingston upon Thames, London. He trained at the National Youth Theatre and began his career with early television appearances in The Bill and Holby City, alongside stage work including a production at the Bush Theatre.
Cole is best known for playing John Shelby in the BBC series Peaky Blinders (2013–2017). His other notable roles include Luke in Skins (2012), Frank in the Black Mirror episode "Hang the DJ" (2017), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Leading Actor, Billy Moore in A Prayer Before Dawn (2018), and Sean Wallace in Gangs of London (2020–). He is the older brother of actor Finn Cole, who also appeared in Peaky Blinders.
