Biography

John Burton (1904–1987) was an English actor who appeared in numerous American films, often in uncredited or supporting roles. Born in London, he began his screen career in the 1920s and continued working into the early 1950s.

He is credited with roles including Wynant in Lost Horizon (1937), Lord Nelson in Lloyd's of London (1936), Sir Austin Carter in Storm Over Bengal (1938), an English announcer in Foreign Correspondent (1940), and a British radio announcer in The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). Other appearances include uncredited parts in Mrs. Miniver (1942) and several Sherlock Holmes films.
