Biography
John McPherson was an American cinematographer and director. Born in Los Angeles on 30 December 1941, he began working in the film industry as a gaffer in 1965 and moved into television cinematography in 1977.
He served as director of photography on the television series The Incredible Hulk (1977) and Amazing Stories (1985–1987), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Series. His feature film credits as cinematographer include Jaws: The Revenge (1987), batteries not included (1987) and Short Circuit 2 (1988). He joined the American Society of Cinematographers in 1980.
From the early 1990s McPherson directed episodes of series including JAG (1995), Sliders (1995), Babylon 5 (1994), Nash Bridges (1996) and Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990), as well as several television films. He was a member of the Directors Guild of America from 1984 until his death on 21 December 2007 in Westlake Village, California.
