Biography
Jung Jae-il (Korean: 정재일) is a South Korean composer. Born on 7 May 1982 in Seoul, he began playing piano at the age of three and guitar at nine. He studied at the Seoul Jazz Academy, joined bands as a bassist in the late 1990s, and released his first solo album, Tear Flower, in 2003.
He is known for his scores for the films Parasite (2019), Okja (2017), Broker (2022) and Mickey 17 (2025), and the series Squid Game (2021). He has also scored Mr. Sunshine (2018) and Sea Fog (2014). Jung performed piano at the 2018 inter-Korean summit and has received awards including the Baeksang Arts Award for Squid Game and the Buil Film Award for Parasite.
