Biography
Justine Wright is a New Zealand film editor based in London. She grew up in Zambia and New Zealand, studied politics at university, and trained in editing commercials and music videos after moving to London.
Wright first gained recognition for editing the documentaries One Day in September (1999) and Touching the Void (2003), both directed by Kevin Macdonald; the former won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. She has maintained a long collaboration with Macdonald on features including The Last King of Scotland (2006). Other notable credits include State of Play (2009), The Iron Lady (2011), Locke (2013), Denial (2016), The Mauritanian (2021), Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023) and We Live in Time (2024).
In 2014 she won the European Film Award for European Editor of the Year for Locke. She has also received a British Independent Film Award for Best Newcomer Behind the Camera and a co-win for Best Editing at the Jerusalem Film Festival.
