Biography
Karen Murphy is an Australian production designer. She has served as production designer on Nightbitch (2024), The Order (2024) and The Bride! (2026).
Trained as an architect in Sydney, she began working in film on the art department of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! (2001). She collaborated frequently with Luhrmann and Catherine Martin on subsequent projects, including art direction on The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).
Murphy’s production design credits include A Star Is Born (2018), Queen & Slim (2019), Elvis (2022) and Chevalier (2022). She has received an Academy Award nomination and multiple Art Directors Guild and BAFTA nominations.
